Welcome to riding school Lis Hartel!

Lis Hartel was born in Denmark on the 14th of March, 1921 and died on the 12th of February, 2009.

Although Lis Hartel contracted polio at the age of 23 which left her with a severe physical handicap, she managed through hard work, positive attitude and her daily work with horses, to become a 2 –  time Olympic Silver medalist, World Champion,
and Danish Dressage Champion 7 times during the 1940’s and 50’s and subsequently inducted into the Hall of Fame both in Scandinavian and in USA.

She was credited worldwide for being the driving force establishing and popularizing therapeutic riding for disabled people and more information can be located about her and the work being carried out today at our riding school by browsing thru this website.

We are very proud and happy to be able to carry on her never ending legacy.

Please check out the website detailing the foundation, activities and daily work at our riding school for handicapped people.

It is our sincere hope that you will embrace the spirit of Lis Hartel and contribute to the work, she so tirelessly did throughout her entire life.

We thank you in advance, please enjoy the ride through our website and please do not forget to contact us when this ride has been completed.
